Reversi looks simple — place a disc, flip your opponent's pieces — but a single careless move can hand the entire board to the AI in just a few turns. The standard 8×8 grid starts with four discs at the centre, two black and two white in a diagonal split, and from there the game is a contest of positional leverage. The player who controls the corners wins almost every time, because corner discs can never be flipped. Edges adjacent to corners are almost as powerful. Beginners make the mistake of grabbing as many discs as possible early on, not realising that a large early lead often collapses when the opponent converts the stable corner regions. Instead, focus on mobility — keeping your opponent's options narrow while leaving yourself a wide range of good moves.
